biography
Michael Seifert is a multi-platinum award winning producer, recording and mixing engineer, arranger, and composer. He, and his work, has been featured in many major publications including Mix Magazine, EQ, Modern Drummer, Billboard, Source, Pro Audio News, and Scene, among others. A self-taught multi-instrumentalist (drums, bass, guitar, keyboards and vocals) he has a keen ability for achieving tonal balance where it should be achieved: at the source.
Extremely versatile, Michael's credits include work in a wide range of styles. Michael has had the privilege of working for and with bands and artists including Tori Amos, Fountains of Wayne, Regina Spektor, Lifehouse, Colbie Caillat, Gerald Levert, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, Neil Zaza, Too Short, Eightball, Pimp C (UGK), Chuck Mosley (Faith No More), Guided by Voices, Cobra Verde, J. Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), Sad Planets (Patrick Carney of The Black Keys), Sweet Apple, Kate Voegele, blues legend Robert Lockwood Jr., Happy Rhodes, Nicholas Megalis,
Mr. Gnome, Gentlemen Hall (featured on the 2011 Billboard Music Awards),
critically acclaimed Jazz man Ernie Krivda, Ohio Sky, and countless others.
In addition to his work with bands and artists, Michael has scored independent films and major motion pictures (including work on The Godfather (The Coppola Restoration), Bram Stoker's Dracula (Special Edition), The Outsiders: The complete Novel, and the Apocalypse Now Documentary "Heart of Darkness" for legendary director Francis Ford Coppola). He has also composed, recorded, and produced music for Fox, CBS, MTV, American Greetings and Sports Illustrated among others.
Michael’s techniques are firmly rooted in the use of classic analog gear. While the majority of his work (these days) is carried out on big Pro Tools systems, he is equally comfortable working on analog tape and often combines these technologies for a hybrid approach based on the specific needs of a given project.
